About the Motors for Automatic Sliding Door
There are 2 types about the motors for automatic sliding door, brushed motor and brushless motor, here's a comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of these 2 types of motors .
▪ Brushed Motors
Advantages are as below .
Simple and low-cost – Fewer components, easier to manufacture.
Easy to control – Speed can be adjusted simply by varying voltage.
No complex electronics needed – Works with basic DC power supply.
Good torque at low speeds – Suitable for applications requiring high starting torque.
Disadvantages are as below .
Lower efficiency (70-85%) – Energy loss due to friction and brush resistance.
Limited lifespan – Brushes and commutator wear out over time.
Higher maintenance – Brushes need periodic replacement.
Electrical noise – Sparking can cause electromagnetic interference (EMI).
Lower speed capability – Friction limits maximum RPM.
▪ Brushless Motors
Advantages are as below .
High efficiency (85-95%) – No energy loss from brushes.
Longer lifespan – No brushes to wear out, reducing maintenance.
Higher speed and power density – Can run at much higher RPMs.
Better thermal performance – Heat is dissipated more effectively.
Low electrical noise – No sparking, making them suitable for sensitive electronics.
Precise control – Ideal for applications requiring variable speed and position control.
Disadvantages are as below .
Higher cost – Requires electronic controllers.
More complex design – Needs Hall-effect sensors or sensorless control.
Dependence on electronics – Motor won't work without a proper driver circuit.
Summary
Brushed motors are cheaper and simpler but less efficient and durable.
Brushless motors are more efficient, longer-lasting, and powerful but require complex control systems.
